Moms-to-be meditation: birthing affirmations to prepare for baby

Moms-to-be,

This new meditation is dedicated to your mindset as you prepare to birth your baby.

Throughout my pregnancy, I’ve had one one birthing affirmation track on repeat thanks to a dear girlfriend that sent it to me.

My girlfriend sent it in response to a spiral of self-doubt that I’d been navigating thanks to my hospital’s COVID policy changing, and now only permitting one support person in the labor room with me.

This meant that our doula could no longer be there (thank gosh for Zoom!).

I was crushed by this news and felt like all of our preparations to have a natural birth were dissolving.

How on earth could I birth this baby without meds AND without my doula’s empowerment, experience and advocacy present?

We were first-timers with zero experience, and I’m not gonna lie, I had become a tad reliant on our doula not only being there, but also providing her special powers to make it all happen.

Note to self (and you) ➡️ the power was already within me, and this body and baby knew exactly what to do regardless of who was in the room with me.

this is how a birthing affirmation track became my medicine during pregnancy.

I played it as soothing background noise while napping, in the bathtub, during meditation, on walks, and as I went through the powerful rite of passage that women have been experiencing for centuries upon centuries.

Just like traditional mantras, affirmations are tools for the mind that can help anchor our awareness, stay present and focused, and choose steadiness in the face of difficulty and uncertainty (aka all things labor!).

After feeling so supported by this gift that my friend gave me, I knew it was my turn to give back what I’d received. This is the purpose of today’s email and the birthing affirmation meditation I’ve created to help you feel calm and supported as you prepare for the metamorphosis that labor is.

If you feel as empowered and comforted by this meditation as I did, I encourage you to lean on it regularly and incorporate it into your daily routine. And don’t hesitate to press play and keep it on repeat as you birth your baby.

As a new mama, it’s a true blessing to offer tools like these and support you during your pregnancy.

Now get comfy, exhale with a sighhh, and enjoy these birthing affirmations as you prepare for your baby to arrive.

Allie, xx
