Yoga for Hips & Back Flexibility: 40 Minute Flow

Welcome to the all the feels experience, also known as third yoga class in the 30 Pose Flow Series!

In today’s flow, we’ll be exploring into our heart & hips – the space where grief, sadness, trauma and a slew of other emotions are stored.

Your body, like an overstuffed underwear drawer, stores emotions. And yoga, the sneaky babe that she is, helps unpack, unravel and release what’s been stored. This release or experience is different for everyone, ranging from incredibly intense to mildly moving, with no experience being right or wrong.

As we explore into these postures, allow yourself to TRULY feel it, sink into it, open into it, release into it, let all those feels happen. It might be scary, uncomfortable and unfamiliar at first, but over time the release will become second nature.

If you experience frustrations, challenges or setbacks, remember that yoga isn’t a quick one and done, it’s a damn marathon. It requires consistent…

Practice + Patience + Integrity.

In all of our hip and heart opening postures there are two opposing forces, meaning it’s harder to recruit & experience both simultaneously. We either focus too much on the strength, losing the length OR we sink into the length, deteriorating the strength.

Does that make sense?

This scenario happens in almost every yoga posture, but it also happens in life. We strengthen our strengths and weaken our weaknesses, it’s human nature & it’s the easiest solution. We do this simply because – shit is hard.

It’s hard because the postures ask a lot of you, all at one time, and all within the same body. Let’s take a quick glance at what I mean:

  • Strength and length – a delicate balance of opposing qualities.
  • Face your fears, while continuing to breathe.
  • Drop your ego, move from a place of authenticity.

Instead of backing down, fearing our emotions, and not venturing into the unknown of this yoga practice…I’d like to do something different.

Screw the easiest solution, let go of your comforts, and forget what’s expected.

Let’s live outside the comfort zone, yeah?

Let’s surprise ourselves with how much we can achieve, how well we can achieve it, and how inspirational we can be in the process.
