Welcome to the second yoga class in the 30 Pose Flow Series!
This flow is all about standing tall, finding some balance, breaking down fears and instilling confidence. Doesn’t that sound dreamy?
Yup, I know it is.
Here’s the deal – balancing postures are VERY common in the yoga practice & often times challenging and frustrating when we first begin. It’s important to remember that doing the best pose, always balancing, looking like the perfect yogi is not what this practice is about.
……take it from the girl who’s been there, done that. Don’t waste your time.
The beauty of yoga is the journey of each posture – the falls, the frustrations, the concentration, the distractions, and eventually – the stillness. We have to accept the falls in order to experience the wins, in order to reach for what it is we want, and in order for us to pursue our passions.
Period. Drop the Mic.
My best advice for this next flow is to take it all with a grain of salt. If you fall out of a posture, who the hell cares? If you stick it every single time, who the hell cares?
Allow yourself to feel what’s happening, what muscles are working, what fears are rising, what emotions are thriving, and whatever else is unfolding. Let it happen, don’t judge it, don’t shout at it, just experience it. The goal in yoga is not to make the most badass shape, it’s to feel the most badass in a shape.
Key word homies – Feel.
It’s about the journey, not the end shape you make.
Two last yogi notes before we get to it…..
- Learn how to find a Drishti point, a single-pointed focus for your eyes to gaze at while practicing. Once you pick your focus, never lose sight of it, not even for a moment.
- I recommend using a block, like always, regardless of your experience level. I find that by using a block, we can achieve two things – bringing the floor closer to us & creating greater extension and expansion throughout the body.
Find your block, aka best friend, right here.
Now let’s do this, shall we?
