What’s up current and future yogis?
Welcome to your opportunity to learn the yoga foundations or the basis. Get grounded. Rooted. Connected…. and feel so damn good.
I crafted this sequence with two thoughts in mind:
- To celebrate and support the community of 30 Pose Journey Goers – you babes are the real deal.
- And to teach a powerful, relatable sequence for both yoga newbies and seasoned practitioners alike.
If you’re wondering about that first reason….wonder no more, join the 30 Pose Journey community below, we’re over 3,000 yogis strong and I’d love for you to be part of that strong.

Before you step onto your yoga mat and create all sorts of beautiful shapes, I want to dive deeper into why these postures are so important.
The yoga foundation postures are the epitome of being a badass yogi….and I know you’re thinking the exact opposite to yourself. But as one of my teachers once said, “Master the hard stuff in the easy poses, so that the hard poses become easy.”
And that’s exactly what we shall do here.
These postures teach us integration, strength and surrender all at the same time. They teach us to recruit the entire self, not just one aspect of the self. To root down, get grounded and stand firm. And in the midst of all this, they also teach us to surrender – relaxing into the moment, letting thoughts float away, and being here in the now.
The present moment.
The specific postures we’ll focus on today are:
- Tadasana/Mountain Pose
- Plank Pose
- Chaturanga Dandasana/Low-Plank Pose
- Adho Mukha Svanasana/Downward Facing Dog
- Urdhva Mukha Svanasana/Upward Facing Dog
- Virabhadrasana I/Warrior 1
- Virabhadrasana II/Warrior 2
- Utkatasana/Chair Pose
These postures are the staples, the meat of the yoga practice, and what you will experience in yoga classes worldwide.
Did you catch that last phrase…..yoga classes across the world!
If there’s any yoga postures to understand and do well, it’s these.
And I say this for three reasons:
- Because of the frequent appearances throughout the yoga practice.
- Because they’re entire body strengtheners.
- And most importantly, the predisposition to cause injury when practiced incorrectly.
These postures – the yoga foundations – are powerful, to say the least.
Let’s experience that power together.
Please step onto your yoga mat & let’s learn to flow!
p.s. – This is a four part yoga flow series in conjunction with the 30 Pose Journey, keep your eyes peeled for the next four!
