Not gonna lie to ya.
This yoga sequence is possibly one of my favorites to unwind, soothe my spine, and relax before bedtime.
I’ve said it before and I’m not afraid to say it again, I’m not the best sleeper.
I envy my bestie who naturally falls asleep at nine (like it ain’t no thang). We used to attempt to watch Frankie & Grace, but no joke, she’d be asleep within five minutes.
I am the exact opposite.
I’m your head hits the pillow and “what needs to be accomplished” and “what didn’t get accomplished” thoughts turn on with the full volume on. I call this squirrel brain ?️
I’m also weirdly dedicated to whatever movie or TV show someone chooses, even if it’s mediocre and too many hours.
All this to say, bedtime for me is a really delicate experience.
And as my yoga teacher just said at my recent training….. “If you want to have a good day, have a good night, and if you want to have a good night, then have a good day.”
Makes sense, yeah? That’s the intention behind this new bedtime yoga class.
To help you create a restorative evening that leads to a productive, purposeful morning (and then repeats).
A few things about the sequence before you unroll your mat with me.
I recommend you…..
- Gather a bolster or block and a folded blanket (these are recommended, not required)
- Come in comfortable clothing, preferably what you plan to sleep in
- Do any last electronic things
- Enhance your experience by adding or taking away anything that adds value
- Take away distractions, bright lights, possibly people (buh-bye husband)
- Add essential oils, burning incense, or writing in a journal
In essence, set yourself up to truly receive and benefit from this bedtime yoga practice.
