Here we go, YBBC DAY 6, let’s do this.
We are back to the booty and the legs, and yes, we are going to work hard today too.
I want to refresh your memory about our earlier conversation, the one where we likened the lower half of our body to a tree’s roots and how important it is to water your roots.
And while today’s yoga class will tend to your roots, I also encourage you to do this throughout your day too. Stand up from your seat, step outside, take a refreshing walk, and appreciate that you can move.
Now do this every day, multiple times a day, and notice your shift in perception towards your beautiful, badass body.
I used to do this while working at an office, when my couch became stale after too much computering, and now when I need a break from the sailboat and want to feel the ground beneath.
But, I didn’t always do this. Prior to learning how to love and appreciate my body…..
I spent too many years staring at the mirror, wishing my legs were leaner and longer, wishing that my butt had a few less bumps and wrinkles, telling myself to lose more weight, eat less food, try another crash diet or two.
This was toxic behavior and it got me nowhere.
So what changed? How did I begin to love my legs, appreciate my powerful glutes, and stop the meanspirited madness?
I walked into a yoga studio and witnessed every type of body on the mat. Women. Men. Young. Middle-aged. Old. Big. Little. Flexible. Barely able to stretch. Strong. Weak.
You name it, every person was there, experiencing the same practice as me.
This was how I changed.
So today, when you’re feeling the burn and your legs are shaking, come back to this lesson. Remember that your roots run deep and you can do this. You can take care of you. You can make your health a priority. You can live your journey.
