A Yoga Video for Women: Alleviate Cramps, PMS, and Bloating

Ladies, this one’s for you.

And me…. because I’m currently on my period & the cramps are out of this world ridiculous.

Let’s not be shy with one another, we all (as in women) get a monthly visit from flow.

And while each flow is different, one thing rings trues, we all get it.

Sometimes it’s messy. Sometimes it hurts. Sometimes it’s a pain in the ass. Sometimes you’re a roaring bitch. And sometimes it’s a breeze.

Regardless of what your time looks and feels like, our periods are a monthly reminder of what our bodies can do – MAKE OTHER BEINGS. When you put it into perspective, it’s an incredible moment & experience that we, women all over the world, can unite together in our ability to create another soul.

Marinate on that for a moment….

Before we go any further into this,  let me clear the air.

  • Men – thank you for being part of the journey, but either share this with a woman in your life or kindly find another article to read. Or stay, maybe you dig learning about our womanly probs.
  • Women – If you haven’t figured me out yet, I’m pretty damn candid, so the following conversation will be authentic, real, and an unedited version of me.

This post and video was originally slated to be a yin yoga video, but then my monthly flow consumed my soul.

(I’ll still make that yin yoga video, don’t fret babes.)

I know that sounds a bit over the top, but the first few days of period land are brutal for me.

And here’s why:

I switched from birth control to an IUD, specifically Paragard. This IUD has zero hormones, is made of copper, and is in for the long haul – 10 years to be exact. I made the switch after digesting the pill for well over a decade. I couldn’t bear the thought of swallowing another pill, especially not for another 5 or so years till baby making time starts.

But with the switch came a new experience…..

A real period.

Okay, technically we all get a “real period”, but back in my pills day it consisted of 3-4 days of light spotting, zero cramps, and PMS was a myth to me.

And now, oh hell girl, it’s no walk in the park.

  • PMS is real, I finally get what everyone’s been bitching about for years.
  • The cramps are incredible, like need a heating pad and round the clock pain medicine for the first two days.
  • My period is a full seven days, like I bleed for seven days straight.
  • The level of bleeding is absurd, like change my tampon every two hours with a super for the first few days.

I apologize if that was too much information, but I did warn you up above.

With all of that being said, the below yoga video is to help you + me soften into our monthly womanhood. It’s a simple yoga practice to help stimulate the body through intentional breathing and movement. At no point will we move fast, invite heat or power into the practice, or go upside down.

This is a FEEL FUCKING GOOD, make your cramps subside yoga practice.

So without further ado, unroll your mat yogi, put on something comfortable (none of that tight, cute yoga clothing ish), and enjoy your beautiful, badass womanly self!

Ladies – how incredible was that yoga class?

I felt a huge, all over body shift from the simple movements, intentional breathing, and body loving kindness.

I pray that you also felt the shift…. and if not, the heating pad is always there for you.

Until next time – xoxo.
