This video is one that we all need….. I say this about almost every yoga video, but for real yogis – believe me this time!
Wondering why a yin yoga, slow flow, aka boring to the naked eye class is so important?
I thought you’d never ask.
First, let’s chat a moment on yin yoga & what it involves. The practice of yin involves slow, long, deep yoga posture holds – usually with a hold time of around three to five minutes (holy forever). The point of holding the postures for so damn long, is to stretch the connective tissues around the joints. Or in simple terms – increase flexibility and mobility within the body.
For this class, we don’t do incredibly deep, flexibility increasing type postures.
This practice is more of a yin + restorative hybrid – essentially, it’s the bomb diggity.
I have to admit, what you see on the blog here is usually what I’m craving in my person life. Like I once read, we teach what need to learn. The lesson being – slow down, take my time, stay present in the moment, practice gratitude, and stop sweating the small shit.
And in addition to needing this type of movement practice, I LOVE practicing this style of yoga because it allows the body, mind and soul to reconnect with one another. It allows the steady inhalations and exhalations to envelope our mind & release the constant chatter. And lastly, it’s a natural solution to reduce stress, relax the mind, and reinvigorate the soul.
Have I convinced you yet?
Thought so. My work here is complete.
Now unroll your yoga mat, grab the below props, set the mood, and let’s get started!
- Bolster – if not wanting to use a pillow.
- A blanket – for that extra cushion.
- Blocks – for extra support, always.
Suggest Mood Setters:
- Incense holder + incense sticks.
- Aromatherapy oil diffuser + relaxing oils.
- Lavender eye pillow for the sweetest savasana.
Yogis, tell me – are you feeling so incredibly good right now?
I definitely am.
Until next time, xoxo.
