Throat Chakra Mantra Slow Flow | 30 Min Morning Yoga

Your throat chakra, vishuddha, is your right to speak & be heard, to express your thoughts & feelings, to share your story, to broadcast your dreams, to listen inwardly, to be creative, and to live authentically. 

After teaching this work for several years, this chakra is often one of the most difficult ones for people to optimize. Whether it’s because they’re too scared to speak out, they don’t trust their voice to come through clearly, the inner critic dialogue is too loud, or because they don’t know how to live life creatively — this energy center is usually in a state of deficiency! 

(some can lean towards excess here, but it’s not as common in my experience) 

So what do we do? How do we heal? What tools can we use?

Here are a few off-the-mat ideas… 

🎶 Play uplifting, soulful music while you’re working, cleaning, cooking and just generally living. It seems like a simple tool, and yet it’s usually underused. 

📝Journal to practice communicating in a safe space, jot down your thoughts and emotions, your ideas, dreams and desires (and when ready, share them!).

✨ Find ways to live creatively, whether it’s the outfit you put on, the recipe you choose, the way you decorate your home, or even how you practice yoga.

👂Practice listening actively both to yourself and others, and speaking with clarity and sincerity. Like yoga, this requires practice!

On the mat, we’ll move through an upper-body slow flow that incorporates chanting HAM and the throat chakra bija mantra.

When we feel emboldened to express ourselves freely, we often exercise our right to speak & be heard in our relationships, families, careers, goals, and dreams, and as a result, we shift from sitting in the passenger seat to becoming the driver of our life story.
