As I type this blog, I’m actually feeling drained as hell.
My mind and body are operating on empty as I near the completion of another week, and we have friends arriving in mere hours for a holiday weekend.
I could swing by my fav local coffee shop for a rejuvenating iced coffee, but there’s an even smarter option…
Say hello 👋🏽 to restorative yoga.
Contrary to popular belief, restorative yoga isn’t just for evening relaxation & bedtime dreaming. It’s true intent is to replenish our body-mind system through simple, steady sequences.
And even though I loveeeee this style of yoga, I still find myself often choosing the iced coffee option over it.
Why? Because like most of society, I’m addicted to stimulating energy, and slowing down means I have to be with myself more intimately.

But when I do say yes and settle in, the results are always so surprising.
My energy rebounds with steadiness & strength, and I’m able to show up for whatever needs my attention next…which in this moment is my family & the friends we’re entertaining.

On the mat, we’ll practice bhramari (bee) breath, supported downward dog with a block, child’s pose with a block, pigeon pose with a bolster, wind relieving pose & waterfall atop a bolster, and end with bee breath again.
Trust me, saying yes to slowing down will be worth it.
You’ll have a renewed sense of being that will only support you off-the-mat with your roles & responsibilities.
