Yoga fam, I’ve got two questions for you.
Ever been confused about how the heck to balance your chakras?
Or curious what it means to unblock or open them?
I know I have AND I’ve also thought it was all a bunch of woo too.

But since starting my 300 HR YTT and diving back into the chakras, I’ve come to appreciate it as a true yoga psychology system.
That’s why today’s new OFF THE MAT video is devoted to debunking what unblock, open, balance and heal your chakras means.
Now let’s pause for a brief moment and define what the chakras even are.
Foundations, please.
➡️ They’re a map of how mind & body and psychology & physiology intersect, or where psyche lives in the body
➡️ They represent different aspects of who we are and each one reigns over a specific phase of human development
➡️ Chakras are hubs or vortexes of energy where the masculine & feminine meet in the pranic body (this is where the chakra system lives, aka as the pranamayakosha)
➡️ Each one is responsible for receiving, digesting, and expressing our life force energy that we experience both internally and externally
Using your imagination, the third eye chakra, visualize 7 colorful spinning wheels that start at the base of your spine and end at the crown of the head.

Because the chakras are the managers of our internal & external energetic experiences and all the baggage that comes with that, naturally they shift into imbalanced states.
The three states they can be in are ⚖️ balanced, ➖ deficient, or ➕ excess.
Deficient and excess chakras develop as coping or defense mechanisms based largely on our childhood conditioning and experiences that were either repeated and/or traumatic, and our now adult ways of thinking, feeling and being.
