Say hello to your new practice which brings me to today’s practice
*Root Chakra Yoga Class to Get Grounded*
In my own life and in my experience with others (especially when leading chakra yoga retreats), it’s become painstakingly evident that we need more opportunities to get grounded or root down.
Many of us need more stability, more structure, more security.
We need stronger boundaries. We need to strengthen our ability to trust.
We need to feel held by the container of our bodies, the container of our daily habits and routines, the container of our relationships, and the container of this planet.
But so often, we shy away from this primal need, because well, it’s very confronting.
To get grounded we can’t be distracted, we can’t be multi-tasking, we can’t be in front of a screen, we can’t be thinking one thing and doing another.
For example, we can’t be in restorative fish pose and also writing an email. It’s impossible.
To get grounded, we must arrive in the moment, we must be present, and presence as we all know is a very challenging state to enter into and withstand.
Can I get an amen ?
Because of this kinda-sorta epidemic of being disconnected, your new yoga class is an attempt to combat our upward living trends (speaking, seeing, thinking) and get back down to the root of what matters (which is your right to be here).
For me, what matters most is…..
- a positive relationship with my body
- my health and wellbeing
- a solid financial foundation
- supportive habits that nurture my evolution
- the ability to trust myself and my decisions
- the ability to face fear and not let it thwart my dreams
…… and the list goes on and on, and btw, that list is a summation of root chakra properties.
Finally, below is a quick breakdown of your root chakra yoga class sequence, jussssttt so you have a bit of context before stepping on your mat.
We start supine, on our backs, and begin the rooting down process through our legs. Think hamstring stretches, bridge holds, bridge pumps, and single-leg bridges. The goal here – to get your strong ass legs to support you!
We’ll then transition to a standing sequence moving from uttanasana to utkatasana, warrior I to warrior II, goddess pose, runners lunge, and a seated twist/stretch to pause and process.
We’ll seal our practice together with root chakra breath work and moment in stillness to extend our roots down and receive the nutrients back up.
It’s an epic practice and it’s only 20 freaking minutes!
Alright. I feel really good about our conversation today. Shall we unroll the mat and get grounded?
The right to exist sees, honors, and respects the right for you to exist.
Thank you for being here.
