Welcome to your Hatha Yoga Class for All Levels and Beginner Yoga Sequence.
This 40 minute hatha yoga class is a chance to get back to your yoga student roots! Whether you’re a beginner yoga student or a seasoned yogi who’s been practicing for years (or maybe decades), this hatha class is a back to yoga basics experience you don’t want to miss.
In this class you’ll work through traditional yoga postures slowly and mindfully, so you have the opportunity to learn and refine your asana practice. You’ll learn yoga postures such as sunbird, downward facing dog, warrior one and warrior two, as well as chair and triangle pose.
Join me on the mat and together we’ll experience the joys of being a yoga student!
Now let’s get honest, because I know being a beginner at anything usually feels awful.
It’s frustrating, challenging and often presents a huge challenge to the ego.
As we get older that grows into a fear of looking silly, feeling like we should already know everything, and usually results in us sitting on the sidelines (aka not growing).
Take it from me! When we left for our sailing journey, the experience was incredibly confronting because I was a literal fish out of water, while my husband was incredibly knowledgeable and experienced (he was a fish returning to his home).
Before leaving for this sailing journey, I had zero sailing experience in comparison to Myers’ years of growing up on the water. He was graceful and relaxed, and I was an anxious mess.
Cue those feelings of frustration, fear and my ego asking, “WTF did we get into Allie”.
This led to many miscommunications that erupted into breakdown arguments where both of us had to get brutally honest about our capabilities as the student (me) and teacher (Myers). It wasn’t always fun being a beginner sailboat student, but learning to live on the water and eventually cross an entire ocean has made me a stronger person.
The good news is…. you don’t have to move onto a sailboat to experience these real life lessons!
You can find this same experience on your yoga mat where the turbulent waters of life aren’t thrashing you to and fro, where you can slow down, focus, and get centered on what’s happening in this here now, now here moment.
Where you can embrace being a student by engaging in new postures and also slowing down to relearn and refine the postures you’ve already experienced.
This hatha yoga class exists to help you refine your yoga practice, but truthfully it exists to help you refine your life and recommit to what matters most to you, even if that’s something that you suck at and are brand new to.
It is your opportunity to let the ego go and embrace where you are right now!
