20 Min Yoga to Calm a Busy Mind

Craving simplicity? Needing to disengage from the world of being busy?

Your yoga practice can provide this, but only if you let it.

What exactly do I mean by “only if you let it”?

Unroll your mat and let’s have a chat about this yoga class & a lesson I’m learning as a student.

I’m wrapping up a 6 week Yoga Sutra Study course with a teacher named Prasad, and the teachings have been incredibly revealing.

One of the key takeaways that Prasad keeps pressing is this…

“Realization of Self, which is the original goal of Yoga, happens only when the mind is Ekagra Chitta (single-pointed focus). If you are practicing authentic Yoga, then your technical goal should ideally be Ekagra Chitta – and that happens only by simplifying your Yoga.”

The above quote is from a longer Instagram share of his that captures the essence of what we’re learning during his course, read the whole post here.

There’s no denying that the majority of us are living with an unnecessary amount of thoughts that are causing fatigue, pain and suffering.

And for some of us, our yoga practices are actually adding to the amount of thoughts we’re having!

We’re unrolling our mats, moving frantically through fast-paced sequences, and stepping off our mats with more thoughts than we started with.

I’ve experienced this hundreds of times, and I’ve taught SO MANY yoga classes like this.

But this class isn’t like that!

It’s a gentle flow that can be used morning, noon and night to calm a busy, hyperactive, distracted mind. I filmed it midday after two long morning meetings, and with another one waiting.

Choosing to film this then was the best decision I could’ve made (btw, you can make this decision too, just press play!).

When you finish the practice & re-enter your world, it’s my sincere hope that the class has reduced your mental load, making it easier to live from your center.

Your center being where focus, clarity and discernment happen with a bit more grace and ease.

And when your mental load reaches that familiar peak, which it will, remember that your yoga is here to provide support and simplicity (not complexity).

I hope to meet you on the mat,

Allie, xx
