108 Sun Salutations | Autumn Equinox Yoga Flow

Yoga fam, if you’re in the northern hemisphere, today is the Fall Equinox.

It’s a moment of planetary wholeness and the transition into a new season. 

A season that invites us to come home, reflect on our year, organize our lives, and prepare to draw inward so rebirth and rejuvenation can happen in the new year. 

Each season prepares us for the next, so what we do now has a domino effect. 

Because winter is a time of stillness, preservation, darkness, and returning to the seed of our essence…

Which then allows us to drop into ideation, innovation, and having authentic inner mentor conversations… 

We want to lay the groundwork now for this to successfully happen!

When we do this, we’re able to enter the new year (and eventually spring) feeling really aligned with our dreams, visions and resolutions. 

And contrary to what mass culture promotes and practices – exhausting ourselves over the holidays – we actually want to do the opposite. 

And the Fall Equinox is our seasonal signal to start doing this!

Inside the BMS Studio, we have a Fall Equinox Yoga Course that walks us through this specific process, but since you’re not part of the fam (yet!), I’ll share with you what we do there. 

First, we set an intention to guide our seasonal celebration and experience.

Second, we practice 108 sun salutations to purify our ecosystem, let go of what’s no longer needed, and create space for what we want to cultivate in the next season.  

Third, we harvest our efforts and remember everything we’ve already accomplished this year. 

Fourth, we practice joy, acceptance and loving kindness towards ourselves and those who’ve supported us throughout the year. 

Lastly, we set intentions for the coming season and identify the aligned actions that’ll make them happen. 

Everything is centered around organizing our lives so we can successfully enter our next season (wintertime) of rest and rejuvenation.
